Do inter-religious realtionships stand a chance?

I have just started dating this amazing man, whom I have known for about a year. We have everything from favorite music, food, and movies to outdoor activites, opinions on matters close to the heart and future goals in common. A few days ago we hit a bump in the road when discussing religion. He’s Christian and I am Buddhist. While I’ve never seen it to be that big of a deal, he is really bothered by it and is trying his best not to let it affect the relationship, but I can see that my disbelief (for lack of a better word) in Jesus Christ has him hurting. What can I do to make him feel better? I have told him that I am not going to give up my beliefs for him, because I would never ask him to do the same, I have even told him that I would participate in certain religious activites (church, prayer etc.). Any ideas?

the relationship can work if you don’t make religion a top priority. neither one of you should give up your beliefs for someone else. basically you can agree to disagree on the matter or move on to someone else. those are about your only options if you wish to stay with your beliefs and be happy.
